A heartwarming (true) story about a parents' struggle to save their children from the jaws of death. It is inspiring to see how John risks his career and the existing support systems to later become a successful entrepreneur and all this in the face of crisis. But for the risks he had taken and his thoughtfulness in handling the various situations, it might not have been possible to save his children too.

Only once in a generation comes a book as magnificent as 'Midnight's Children'.If you have never read a Rushdie book before, this would be the perfect one to begin with. Before you begin reading this book, make sure you have nothing to do for the next 3 to 4 hours depending on how fast you read because once you start reading this, you'll be hooked and there's no stopping for little breaks. It might take some time initially to get used to his style of writing but once you get the hold of it, you'll start falling in love with exquisite and beautiful language that Rushdie uses.

I never knew anything like a detective story series, and a one as popular as this (in its original native language - Bengali) existed unless I read this book. Hats off to Satyajit Ray who has created these stories in line with some of the great detective series of the earlier generations. Children being the intended audience for this book, the crimes involved are very minor ones such as thefts (though there are some murders in vol II) but the way these crimes are unearthed are very interesting. Feluda is a big fan of Sherlock Holmes, so you can find that touch in these stories. I would recommend this for all even though it is a children's book. A point that you may note - it would take much more time to read this book as this is a compiled version of about several stories and it is best to read in a sequence at least the first few stories till the time Lalmohan babu comes into picture.
