This is Anita Nair's first murder mystery novel in which she introduces Inspector Borei Gowda. She introduces her protagonist means that there will be more murder mysteries coming up with this character. The way the novel ends also means that there will be sequel or sequels. I won't be so keen on reading the sequels. There is not so much mystery solving in the novel. Finding the murderer seems to be an after thought. Nowhere in the novel does Gowda use his intelligence or skill to find a genuine breakthrough. But he's very smart we're told. There is more on the personal life of Inspector Gowda. His thoughts, his fears, his regrets and his love seem to be more important. However, Anita Nair portrays Bangalore city beautifully and her characters look genuine. But, if you're looking for a detective novel, this is not the one. I hope there is more detection and mystery solving in the sequel. Someone has to read it and tell me. I'm not going to read the sequel and get disappointed again.

A work of fantasy written in the inimitable style of horror literature’s two stalwarts. Jack Swayer must travel to an unknown and mysterious place in order to save his mother’s life. A place set aside for a particular purpose - a place of friends, monsters, magic and awakening.
